Why I'm moving to podcasts…… a short story
So, here is the reason why I’m choosing intentional input over background noise.
I'm an all-in kinda gal, and I've realised that my passive media consumption was keeping me stuck in the shallow end.
I don’t want the quick fix; I want the deep truth.
It was time to switch off the filler and turn up the wisdom.
This is why I'm swapping TV, magazines and social media snippets for deep conversations. The kind found in podcasts and documentaries.
I don’t want the headlines, I want the roadmap.
I'm exhausted by 2-minute summaries and soundbites fuelled by gossip and division. The words twisted and cut to dramatise and draw in the masses.
I crave the full story.
I need to hear the messy ‘how’ and the vulnerable ‘why’ from people who lived it, not a fleeting summary described by someone fuelling fear, not empathy.
Give me the messy humans.
I'm actively seeking out the voices of people who have faced huge adversity, hit rock bottom, and kept going. The people with the grit, with a story to tell.
This isn’t just seeking inspiration; it's finding tangible evidence that complex problems have complex, often messy, solutions.
It shows me that transformation is possible.
The deep end is where the moments of shared truth live.
When people show up authentically and give us the full, unedited story, we find the ‘I’m not alone’ moments that change everything.
This depth is where we find our roadmaps out of grief, out of struggle, and realise that hitting rock bottom truly means the only way is up.
Approaching life with love and understanding
Deep conversations help us step into a place of compassion
We gain understanding of triggers, viewpoints, and the challenges of being human.
They remind us that we’re all just trying to do our best, and we allow others (and ourselves) the space to change, evolve, and be seen with patience.
Hearing these detailed, complex journeys gives us a crucial perspective
It allows us to look back at our younger, less experienced selves with kindness, recognising that those ‘silly’ decisions were just a lack of context and wisdom, not a lack of worth.
A gentle lens for our younger selves.
So, let this be my call to you, to pause for a moment and plug into the purpose.
The energy you absorb through your eyes and ears directly dictates your emotional reality.
Choose inputs that expand your mind, soften your heart, and fuel your purpose.
Be intentional with your consumption, your time, and your energy.
Ask yourself in each moment, what’s my Intent?
